this is the beast of black river. i grew up in africa and there were many strange animals that dwelled and i expierienced one such was a giant armored animal in a water hole about a half mile down the road from my town. many animals drank from it as well as us but no living thing would go near it at night as there was the chaleheh which lived in the underwater caves beneath the small lake. at afternoon you could see him swimming around the surface and every now and than we would throw left over carcasses into the water as it bacame dusk and the creature would immediately rip the carcass down to the depth of the waterhole which was actually about one hundred feet down and lead to underwater tunnels i was told. the beast itself was just part of our town and a normality so it was not known to anybody who didnt live in our village. early 1900s when europe had tried to annex pieces of africa my grandpa told me many stories of how the dehydrated french soldiers would run into the water and start screaming as they raced back to the shore getting dragged down one by one many have also tried to destroy it as well such as another story my grandpa told me happened when he was a teen in 1886 the wealthy man fred blair who i found out had attempted the oak island treasure seven years later, had attempted to capture our towns secret but couldnt find a rope strong enough to hold the creature and pull it in they threw in over twenty stag corpses and the steel line was snapped everytime. the monster would bite it everytime within 5 seconds of the cast into the water as blairs money ran out his team disassembled.

i have seen it many times and i remember the last night before i left africa in 1971 it was swimming in a figure 8 around the hole it had small eyes and the scales it had were hard and darker brown and were hardened looking like armor plating. from the glimpses ive retained the creature in all was about the length of 10 or 11 men. i believed that there were more than just one i living in the water as it had been around for hundreds of years and varied in size from encounter to encounter.

These are some pictures of fish ive found to resemble the chaleleh of my village scientifically its called the Dunkleosteus Placodermi Devonian and can grow bigger than 25 feet but are long extinct or at least they say

i talked to professor Alex Bourbon who attended harvard law but was still interested in my past a couple years back who relocated my village and he came back five years later(now) with amazing results and stories of encounters he had with the black river beast.
