DebunkerFrom TinWiki.org(Redirected from Debunkers)
Debunker is an individual that seeks out root causes for mysterious or unexplained reports, events, phenomena, conspiracy theories or other happenings.
[edit] Who are debunkers?Debunkers are people that might not like conspiracy theories at all or they just don't like certain kinds of conspiracy theories or they don't like one conspiracy theory and they try to "prove them wrong". There are all sorts of debunkers. There are people in the US government, or, any government, that will try to debunk things. Like, for example-- George W Bush the President of the USA has said "let us not tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories". This in itself is an act of debunking various conspiracy theories of which leads us to ponder conspiracy theories because he, the President, has even brought up such conspiracy theories.
[edit] Why do people feel the need to debunk conspiracy theories?A conspiracy is defined as "1. the act of conspiring. 2. a plan or agreement formulated, esp. in secret, by two or more persons to commit an unlawful, harmful, or treacherous act."- (definition from Random House Webster's College Dictionary). Essentially one could say that conspiracies happen all the time in normal politics. Yet, when the government covers up their tracks, debunkers feel the need to try to talk about conspiracies, and they believe the official explanation of the events that occur without looking into them much further (like mainstream media lies) because they are content with that. When most people think of conspiracy theories they think of Hitler and his hatred for the Jews and the Jewish banker conspiracy or they think of the fall of Rome. That's why a lot of people don't really like thinking about conspiracies all that much because they're often associated with things they don't want to think about.
[edit] What debunkers doOne of the things that professional debunkers often like to do is to spread disinformation. You will find these debunkers in the mass media. They will tell you a lie and they expect you to believe it. What they say on the air isn't necessarily true. Debunkers like to spread disinformation. Disinformation is false information. Like in the war in Iraq for example they told us we were going to war in Iraq because Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons. Later on we found out that Saddam Hussein didn't have nuclear weapons. Debunkers then tried to dispelling any notion of a possible conspiracy by changing the reason that we were in Iraq from not admitting that the intelligence reports were made up and they later on changed their story to say that we are in Iraq to liberate the people of Iraq (which doesn't sound like a bad idea). Then, these same debunkers who made the claim that we were in Iraq to liberate the people of Iraq started lying to us again, and spreading more disinfo to us, saying that we were in Iraq to fight terrorists. Most people know that the media was trying to manipulate us-- spread lies-- debunk possible notions of conspiracy theories-- to get us rallied up for war with Iraq. Now people believe two different things-- the media's lies-- or that we went to war based on faulty intelligence. Saddam Hussein actually did have chemical weapons, and, they were found, but there was no reason to believe that Saddam Hussein posed a genuine threat at the time. Iraq had nothing to do with the war on terror like people said it did. George W Bush said that he wanted to go there so he would "bring a dictator to justice". This is just another example of the way debunkers in the media lie to us. Shortly after we invaded Iraq there were radical claims that Iraq was a safe haven for terrorists. Of course... that's not why the President said he wanted to be there in the first place... as the President originally said that we were there to topple Saddam Hussein but nonetheless the media was rallying us for war once again. Debunkers, not in the media like to engage in many activities. They usually think that there are alternative ways for explaining something like conspiracy theories. There are people that like to debunk certain ideas or theories as nonsense because they don't believe in them. And there are debunkers that will actually provide real evidence as to why something isn't true-- like if it's really a hoax. [edit] External Links
