DemonFrom TinWiki.org
Demons, or daemons, are believed to be spirits that are predominantly malevolent. Such beings are referred to in religious texts and paranormal studies, especially in occultism. In most theistic religions, demons are supposedly a collective part of evil, and reside in lower dimensions, such as Hell.
[edit] OriginsDemons are known throughout many religions, cultures, folklore, and mythology. In some belief systems, demons are thought to originate from the fallen angels that were banished from Heaven by God for turning against him. In other traditions, demons are believed to be ensouled entities, such as thoughtforms acting under their will. [edit] Influence behaviorSome believe that demons can influence human and animal behavior through direct interaction or even possession. Many spiritualists use this belief to explain why some mentally ill patients show signs of madness and often mention demons or devils in their speech. Some clairaudients speak of demonic entities that wish to cause harm to them or take over their body. Some faiths, such as several Christian religions, infrequently provide exorcism services to people who believe their property or persons to be troubled by demons. [edit] See also[edit] External links
