ExtraterrestrialsFrom TinWiki.org
Extraterrestrials, often called aliens or ETs, are any beings from another planet. This term usually refers to intelligent beings, but technically any life forms or objects not from Earth are extraterrestrial. The existence of extraterrestrial intelligent beings has not been proven. However, there are projects, such as SETI, attempting to discover intelligent life elsewhere in the Universe. Other scientific efforts are largely focused on looking for smaller life forms like bacteria on nearby planets within our Solar System.
[edit] IntroductionIn UFOlogy, there are numerous hypothesized/speculated extraterrestrial species, including the Greys, Reptiloids and the Nordics, amongst others. These, notably, are general classes of extraterrestrial types, rather than specific groups or organizations. For example, there can be Greys from a specific planet, or an organization like the alleged Galactic Federation. A star system name can be used as the basis for the name for a group of extraterrestrials, like with the alleged Cassiopeans or the Zeti Reticulans. Some, like Jeff Ritzmann and Leo Zagami, warn that what are thought to be extraterrestrial visitors may in reality be interdimensional, demonic beings. [edit] HypotheticalThe Universe is a very large place, which presents both possibilities and problems when the subject comes to extraterrestrials. We know today that the universe is so large with so many stars that many consider that there is a great likelihood for life to exist elsewhere in the Universe. One may think that if life could have started here on Earth, it could also have started someplace else. Extraterrestrial life does not necessarily have to be intelligent or sentient like the stereotypical image of little green men coming to the Earth in flying saucers. Extraterrestrial life could be in the form of bacteria or viruses, or other forms of silicon based life. When speaking of ETs, people will commonly think of intelligent, space-faring creatures responsible for a slew of strange phenomena, from cattle mutilations to alien abductions. Tens of thousands of people have reported seeing strange crafts flying in the Earth's skies. Most of these sightings can be explained: misidentified natural phenomena and military testing. However, a small percentage of sightings, known as unidentified flying objects (UFOs), cannot be explained, and it is these sightings that spur believers to say we are not alone. Skeptics contend that interstellar space travel is impossible and impractical. Einstein's theory of relativity says that it is impossible to accelerate matter past the speed of light; this means that a spaceship carrying ETs would take years, perhaps centuries or millenniums to reach the Earth. On the other hand, new physics theories have appeared over the last century, including worm holes and super strings, which lead some to theorize that civilizations with science more advanced than our own have ways around the light speed barrier. [edit] Reasons to come here
There are examples of UFOs showing a lot of interest in military installations, leading some to speculate that extraterrestrials are very interested in human military technology, particularly technology relating to nuclear weapons. Additionally, the question has arisen as to whether these unknown extraterrestrial biological entity (E.B.E.) species' general motives are benevolent or hostile in nature. There have allegedly been witnesses who have had positive experiences with some E.B.E.s; some of these witnesses have described the encounters as spiritual awakenings; others have explained that certain information was downloaded into them, which is reported to have occurred with some Indigo Children. Because of these witnesses' stories of what has happened to them, some conspiracy theorists have speculated that specific television shows, such as The X-Files, portray all E.B.E.s as having hostile motives towards most humans as a method of conditioning the viewing public to automatically disregard real-life positive extraterrestrial encounters as a fantasy of the witnesses. [edit] SearchingIt is said that most scientists disregard the idea that extraterrestrials are visiting the Earth. However, there is some serious scientific research being conducted in looking for signs of an advanced civilization. One such effort is The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). SETI searches the sky for radio signals from other life forms. This effort has for the most part been unsuccessful. Some dispute these actions as waste of time and funds due to the massive size of the sky. Radio signals travel at the speed of light, so if a civilization broadcasts, we must hope that they are within a few light years of our position. For instance, a civilization a thousand light-years away would have needed to signal a thousand years ago for SETI to receive the signal. So the odds of finding such a signal can seem daunting.
