Hollow EarthFrom TinWiki.org
The first known Hollow Earth theory was proposed in 1692 by Edmund Halley, the English astronomer whose mathematical calculations pinpointed the return of the comet that bears his name. Halley at that time was fascinated with fluctuations in the Earth's magnetic field and concluded that changes in the direction of the magnetic field indicated there was in fact more than one planet. He came to the conclusion that the Earth was in fact hollow and within it was a second sphere with a separate magnetic field. Ultimately, to account for the varying fluctuations in the field he proposed that the Earth was composed of some four spheres, each nestled inside another.
[edit] Halley's theory of lifeEdmund Halley suggested that the interior of the Earth was populated with life and lit by a luminous atmosphere. He suggested that the famous aurora borealis, or northern lights was in fact caused by the escape of this gas through a thin crust at the poles. Many people throughout history felt that the Northern Lights were in fact reflections of the light from the interior of the Earth reflecting on clouds and the atmosphere. [edit] Other theoristsOther people soon picked up Halley’s hollow-earth theory often adding their own take on it [edit] Leonhard EulerIn the Eighteenth Century, a Swiss mathematician, Leonhard Euler took the multiple spheres theory and replaced it with a single hollow sphere that contained a sun 600 miles wide. He said the sun maintained heat and light for an advanced civilization that he said lived there. A Scottish mathematician Sir John Leslie suggested that there was not one sun but infact two he named these Pluto and Proserpine. [edit] John SymmesJohn Symmes, an American ex-army officer and business man, was said to be one of the most ardent supporters of Halley’s hollow Earth theory. Symmes believed that as well as the Earth being hollow, both the North pole and South pole were in fact entrances 4,000 and 6,000 miles wide, respectively, that led to the interior. He spent most of his life working on this theory and raising money to support an expedition to the North Pole for the purpose of exploring the inner earth. He never succeeded but after he died one of his followers Jeremiah Reynolds a newspaper editor helped to influence the U.S. government to send an expedition to Antarctica in 1838. Whilst the explorers were there they did not discover any hole there but they came back with evidence that Antarctica was not just a polar ice cap, but the Earth's seventh continent. [edit] Marshall GardnerThe discovery of a Woolly Mammoth in 1846 in Siberia, frozen in ice, was evidence to a man named Marshall Gardner that the earth was hollow. He was a subscriber to the single sun inside the earth theory. He suggested that since the Mammoth was preserved so well that it must have died recently. Gardner also thought that mammoths and other extinct creatures were wandering freely in the interior of the earth and that the specimen that was found in Siberia had wondered out through the hole at the North pole and froze to death and was carried to Siberia in the ice flow. [edit] Cyrus Read TeedIn the same decade that saw John Symmes theory came a new one all together by a man named Cyrus Read Teed. Teed suggested in his theory that as well as the Earth being hollow there were people who lived inside it. In the center of the sphere were the sun, which was half dark and half-light and when the sun rotated it gave the appearance of day and night. He stated that because of the dense atmosphere the people down there could not see the other side of the world. The 19th century mathematicians could not fully disprove this theory based on geometry alone, since the exterior of a sphere can be mapped onto the interior with little trouble. Teed went on to change his name to Koresh and founded what might today be called a cult, he bought a 300 acre of land in Florida he declared himself the messiah of a new religion. He eventually died in 1908 without proving his ideas. [edit] World War 2 and HitlerDuring World War 2 Hitler sent an expedition to the Baltic Island of Rugen. A man named Dr. Heinz Fischer was said to point a telescopic camera into the sky in an attempt to photograph the British fleet across the hollow interior of a concave earth. This was apparently unsuccessful and the British fleet remained unharmed. After the war there has been stories that connect the hollow earth theories to Nazi Germany. One author Ernst Zundel wrote a book entitled UFOs - Nazi Secret Weapons. In this book he claimed that Hitler had boarded a submarine at the end of the war, and had escaped to Argentina, where he established a base for flying saucers in the hole leading to the inside of the Earth at the South Pole. Zundel also suggested that the Nazi’s were a different race that had come from the inner-earth. [edit] Snake peopleMany people subscribe to the theory that Reptoids or Reptiloids are the principal denizens of the hollow earth along with giants and other various types of legendary creatures. The theory goes that when an asteroid collided with the earth 65 million years ago, some dinosaurs survived the nuclear winter type of climate that followed, by migrating underground. These dinosaurs not only survived, but continued to evolve and become what today are known as Reptoids. The theory does not stop there though. Many claim that the Reptoids are shape shifters and have steered human development throughout our history. There are also claims that the hollow earth is the Garden of Paradise described in the Bible, and that this fact is the greatest secret of the creatures that live there now. [edit] Admiral Richard E. ByrdRear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd was a pioneering American polar explorer and famous U.S. Navy aviator. In January of 1956 Admiral Byrd led an expedition to the South Pole. On that expedition he and his crew allegedly penetrated down 2,300 miles into the center of the earth. Admiral Byrd then went on to state that the North and South Poles are only two of many openings into the center of the Earth. He also wrote about seeing a sun below the Earth. In his own personal flight diary, he tells of entering the hollow interior of the Earth, along with U.S. Navy crewmen and traveling 17 miles over mountains, lakes, rivers, green vegetation, and animal life. He tells of seeing tremendous animals which resembled mammoths of antiquity moving through the brush. He eventually found cities and a thriving civilization which was comprised of a highly intelligent race of people that have inhabited Earth for millions of years. His airplane was greeted by flying machines of a type he had never seen before. They escorted him to a safe landing area where he was graciously greeted by emissaries from Agartha. After resting, he and his crew, were taken to meet the king and queen of Agartha. They told him that he had been allowed to enter Agartha only because of his high moral and ethical character. They went on to communicate to him that they worried about the safety of planet, due to he bombs and other testing done above the surface by foreign goverments. After the visit Byrd and his crew were guided back to the surface of the planet. [edit] See also[edit] Literature
It has been suggested that John Symmes wrote this book although not proven.
This was about a bunch of fairies that were said to live inside earth under the mantle
People believe that this book may have been closer to the mark than expected. In recent times scientists have found rock-eating bacteria living as far as a mile below the ground and in Romania a whole ecosystem, including spiders, scorpions, leeches and millipedes has been found in a cave cut off from the surface 5.5 million years ago.
