Liverpool is a City on the North West coast of the United Kingdom, Found on the banks of the river Mersey, Liverpool has become famous for many many things particularly known for its sense of humor, Music,and its famous port. The port of Liverpool became the center for the mass migration to the new world, with people traveling from all corners of Europe and beyond to catch passage to America, at its height during the Irish famine, more than 300,000 people a year where passing through the port of Liverpool for new lives abroad, destinations included, America, Canada, and Australia, it is said that between 1847 and 1853 as many as 57 ships were lost on the voyage to America alone. Liverpool has a population of 450,000 with a wider suburban area making the population close to 820,000 people. The population is made up of cultures from all parts of Europe, as well as descendants from Africa, Asia, and the Middle east, the city also has a very strong religious background housing two cathedrals, and many other places of worship covering the needs of many religions and cultures from around the World. Liverpool was founded as a borough in 1207 during the reign of King John, and remained a small township until it became a parish by act of parliament in 1699, that year also heralded the start of one of the darkest chapters in the history of Liverpool, the start of the slave trade. The ship Liverpool Merchant became the first ship to sail from Liverpool on course for Africa, trade started to grow and Liverpool built its first wet dock in 1715, as a direct result from the slave trade Liverpool began to prosper and grow to a point that by the end of the century it was in control of 80% of the slave trade in Britain.
