The Ouija board (talking board, spirit board) is a device used to communicate with the dead. The board features the Alphabet, numbers, and symbols. A planchette is held by and is supposed to be used by spirits around the board spelling words and answering questions.
History
Reference to Ouija Board date back as far as 1200 BC.
Modern use of the board began in The United States in the mid-19th century.
Today, "Ouija" is a registered trademark of the "Parker Brothers" Corporation. In 1967, the first full year that the boards were handled by Parker Brothers, sales of Ouija boards reached 2,300,000.
