R. Scott Shumate

R. Scott Shumate was the chief operational psychologist for the CIA's Counter Terrorism Center from April 2001 to May 2003 at Fort Bragg. He is heading the SERE-School. Many psychologists from the American Psychological Association made public a joint letter to president Sharon Brehm incriminating R. Scott Shumate of teaching torture. There are striking similarities between the reported detainee abuse at both Abu Ghraib and Guantánamo and the techniques used on soldiers going through SERE school.
