Satan or The Devil is a super-powerful being that embodies ultimate Evil. Satan is mentioned in Christianity, Islam and many other religions and ideologies. Satan is meant to be the term, but The Devil is deeper and more of a title. In Greek diabolos means "devil", which means "slanderer" or "accuser"; it is for this reason people think that Satan rules Hell and that only evil people go there once they are accused of their sins. It has been written in many books that The Devil is in fact an angel, cast out of Heaven for rebelling against God. It is said that since then there has always been this constant battle of duality between good and evil. It is commonly believed by many religions that The Devil is in fact testing us, some other religions have even said that God created the lie of Satan and created The Devil to test our faith in Him.

This being, this entity, this test has gone by many names over the years and will no doubt gain some more as time goes by. Among the most famous names are Satan, Lucifer, Iblis and Beelzebub. Many other cults don't mention a Devil but do hint at a being of complete evil being opposed to their god/supreme being. It is not unknown for The Devil's name to be ushered into politics and other groups, some people will accuse their opponent or enemies of supporting The Devil in an attempt to gain more attention and more supporters of their own.
