Silva Ultra Mind (ESP) Systems, formerly known as Silva Mind Control, could be said to be a form of "active" meditation. Others would say it is a method of harnessing the power of the mind. Others may conclude that it is a form of self-hypnosis.

History

Silva Mind Control gained popularity in the 1970's, along with EST and TM (Trancendental Meditation). In advanced training manuals distributed to certified instructors in the 80's, Silva Mind Control was said to have been created for Army Intelligence during the 1950's. According to (current) Silva literature, between 1949-1953 Jose Silva claimed to have used his techniques to produce a clairvoyance in his 10-year-old daughter. In 1963 the Laredo Para-psychology Foundation Inc. was created with 39 clairvoyants that Silva claims to have produced from family and friends. In 1966, in Amarillo, Texas, Silva went public with his methods. In 1967 satellite programs spread to other cities.

Originally, Silva Mind Control was focused as an educational training method that would enhance learning. Regardless of the titles used, the Silva method is claimed by many to have great effectiveness.

Methods

Silva Mind Systems primarily uses a form of creative visualization. The methodology, while not the specifics, are similar to some exercises in Tibetan Buddhism.

A form of "alpha brain wave" meditation is utilized for calming and centering.

Creativity is encouraged and enhanced using "the three scenes method" and the "mental video technique".

Healing of the physical body is encouraged and developed with alpha meditation and visualization techniques.

Intuition is encouraged and developed, sometimes to such a degree that the effects are psychic or seemingly "supernatural".

Silva methods always include admonitions that it should not be utilized for negative purposes. In fact the "betterment of mankind" is always stressed and reiterated.

Many claim that the Silva Method has great effectiveness.

Silva Mind Systems does not appear to have a political, religious or secular agenda.

Silva Mind Systems, although a money making operation, appears to have altruistic motives.

The techniques of the Silva Method could have possible applications as to

psychic healing and RV (Remote viewing).

Summation

The Silva method appears to have great effectiveness in its applications. Some claim that The Silva Method is a quasi-religious organization. Others claim that it is a cult.

Silva Mind Systems claims to be able to help one develop psychic powers. It also claims to enhance healing of oneself and others.

Silva Mind Control appears to have a tenuous connection to the U.S. Military. Some claim its techniques have been used for Remote viewing, and to create "super soldiers".

In the 70's and 80's Silva Mind offered a series of straight-forward techniques, devoid of its current "New Age " packaging. Also in the 70's and 80's, Silva "mind control" was not judged by what have now become "politically incorrect" connotations.
