[edit] What about apropos Wikipedia articles? Here's a question I have -- not sure if this is the right place ot ask -- what about Wikipedia and other wiki sources? There are articles in TinWiki that have sister articles in Wikipedia. For example, I note there is a nice article on Wikipedia about Aleister Crowley that includes information not contained in the TinWiki article on the same topic. Is it acceptable to link (as an external resource) to the wikipedia article? Or is the it TinWiki policy to act like the Wikipedia article doesn't exist? -- zcopley [edit] As a ruleAs a rule we dont link to other wiki forums. If you feel other information can be added to the article please feel free to. Any questions you can contact the wiki master William one sac here --ronishia 10:50, 24 July 2006 (CDT)
[edit] More of a reasontinWiki isnt really intergated within the wikinetwork. So if we were to link into it we would be trying to intergate... but we don't have any formal setups with the other wikis... --Xabora 03:17, 26 July 2006 (CDT) [edit] Article titlesI am curious about a couple of things about article titles right now which I came to think of partly after taking a look at the Flying Saucers page. I have tried to look here in Help for the answer to my questions but wasn't able to resolve what I'm wondering about yet. Are article titles supposed to follow the style guidelines for Headers as far as upper case, that is, have upper case only for first letter of first word and nouns? I am curious also about spelling out acronyms, actually I just moved a page from acronym title to spelled-out title (CIA). Are article titles supposed to be spelled out, like the style manual recommends for the general article text? Lastly, what I thought about especially when looking at the Flying Saucers page is, are there any preferences for making article titles in the singular form compared to the plural form? I typed in "flying saucer" in the search box to see if it would bring up a page. Then, when I saw a redirect was needed, I wondered if I should maybe just move the page instead, to the singular form title. British usage reverses placement of the quotations in regard to periods and commas. Also, this example is not standard American usage:
Although it doesn't seem logical, even in the case above, the quotes go outside the period (American). Side note: many grammatical guides disapprove of that usage anyway, since it's an indirect quote (in other words, the quote is supposed to act as a direct object). In this case, the direct object is the entire dependent clause: [that] the situation was deplorable. Sometimes it's irresistible to use quotes in indirect quotations...I'm just saying.
