Talk:Tarot cards

From TinWiki.org

I've always been interested in Tarot. Nice intro, could use a bit of further explanation and some editting.Zsandmann 13:34, 31 August 2006 (CDT)

Added the Fix banner -- the last sections need adjustments

Towards the end, this article starts to get a little bit off track, in my opinion. The instructions on how to use Tarot cards seem a bit out of place, and might be better to link to instead. Also, the language changes to directly address the reader, which is not a neutral point of view, descriptive language. The word "you", and addressing the reader, should not be used in an encyclopedia.

Other than that thing towards the end, this article looks quite good, and also the topic is of course extremely appropriate for tinWiki.Optimist 18:58, 2 March 2008 (CST)

I fixed some of the language to be more objective and tried to change the feel from "this is how you use the tarot" to "this is what is believed about tarot and how it is used". I did leave in the bit about the Celtic Cross spread because I thought it was helpful in giving an example of how a tarot reading works rather than as an instruction on how to use the tarot.

Let me know what you think, and if the fix tag can be taken off. I'd like to continue to work on the article, because tarot is one of my interests and the history and beliefs are fascinating (not to mention its reputed connections with Freemasonry, Kabbalah, Crowley, etc. etc.), but I think it's sufficient as it stands. --americandingbat 00:55, 23 August 2008 (CDT)

Images

It would be great to have an image in the beginning of the article. That image should of course be legal to use, and should also be hosted on tinWiki/ATS's own computers.

Farther down in the article there is/was an image, but the image URL goes to some external website. First of all it is not always considered polite to display images hosted by other people, and one also risks what has happened here, that the image is removed by the host. I added a public domain scan of a 1909 Fool card and replaced the Celtic Cross diagram with one I created. Both images are now hosted at ATS.com. --americandingbat 00:55, 23 August 2008 (CDT)
