Writer's Neutral Point of view

All tinWiki articles must be written from a neutral point of view.
In the case conflicting views, our policy requires that, they should be presented fairly. Speculation and theory should be presented as such and not asserted as fact. TinWiki articles are not the place for debates. When these are facts in dispute it should be taken up in the articles talk page.

Bias

All tinWiki articles must be written with out bias.
A bias is a prejudice in a general or specific sense, usually in the sense of having a predilection for one particular point of view or ideology. TinWiki is not a soapbox or a place for one to push their ideology.

Let the facts speak for themselves

Using Hitler as an example, an article for this subject would be full of facts showing evil deeds. But we don’t need to call him evil. Let the facts speak for themselves. Name-calling is both pointless and unnecessary.

Avoid weasel words

Weasel words are words or phrases that smuggle bias into seemingly supported statements by attributing opinions to anonymous sources. If a statement can't stand on its own without weasel words, it lacks neutral point of view.

For example, “Canada is the best place in the world to live in,” is a biased or normative statement. Application of a weasel word can give the illusion of neutral point of view: "Some people say Canada is the best place in the world to live in."
This is an improvement, since it no longer states the opinion as fact, but it remains uninformative.
Who says that? You? Me?
When did they say it?
Why is this of any significance?
Weasel words don't really give a neutral point of view; they just spread hearsay, or personal opinion. Either a source for the statement should be found, or the statement should be removed.

Related Links

When you are creating the realated links or websites section, try and pick websies that are both pro and con about the subject. For example if you write an article about sasquatch, you should include websites that promote the idea of these creatures as well as a website that is skeptical about such claims. This will help tinWiki in its mission to remain unbiased and neutral.
