'Relevant Discussion Threads' Sub-headings

I think that these are a good idea and that we should all try to use them when making an article. I've been linking to ATS and other discussion board threads on the subject of an article. This will give people using the Tinwiki quick access to more detailed information. If we remain consistent with it, then perhaps this will distinguish tinwiki from other wikis. - Nygdan 23:45, 7 March 2006 (CST)

Agreed, I've already changed the articles I've created to follow this. If we are consistent in this it will make things easy for new users and veterans alike. I also think we should be very selective when it comes to posting relevant ATS threads. Some thread may be relevant in topic but will not have anything constructive to add (e.g. closed repeat threads, threads that have little or no content.)

Good point! Nygdan 14:31, 8 March 2006 (CST)

References

I think that we should try to encourage the standard Chicago Manual of Style format, in particular the Scientific Style. I created a short citation page here. The basic format would be:

  • Author Last Name, Author First Name. Year. Title of the Work. Journal Name Vol# (Issue#): Startpage–Endpage.

The basic way to encode this stuff is laid out in the above page. Nygdan 09:39, 8 March 2006 (CST)

I have been talking to one of the Wikipedia Admins and was able to find out about this, which explains the reference citation in more detail and how to incorporate it into the Tinwiki. This guy over at the wikipedia wrote it, and he might be available for help. Nygdan 11:26, 8 March 2006 (CST)

Is this really the right place for this?

Have you guys noticed that there's a difference between an article and a discussion - this page should quite likely be Talk:Tinwiki_Initiatives instead of what it is now... Count 01:14, 9 March 2006 (CST)
