What I'm doing here
I hang around here fairly much, so much that William One Sac, after first giving me Sysop status to my account, has given me even the same title he himself has, which I consider to be quite stunning and an honor which I am extremely thankful and proud of. What I try and contribute to this encyclopedia website, is basically improving the articles (regretfully I'm not among the most knowledgeable or those in the best position to do that, though), plus maybe this or that idea I may come up with for possible fine tunings in the website "structure"... The latter I may go ahead and try out right away sometimes, but mostly I like to first ask William One Sac his opinion. --21:41, 5 April 2008 (CDT)
Wiki matters I seem to notice
These are big and small aspects of the writing, that I have noticed seem to not be totally settled, meaning it seems there's not too much of a 'cohesive' policy relating to the parts of the writing and work that gets done here, but that individual contributors rather do things a little bit different from each other, this one this way, and that one the other way, and a third one may do things yet another way... I've started to think a little bit that some of these aspects of the writing and article creation activity might be nice to take a little dialogue or such about, to see if some type of consensus or such, a common practice and agreed upoen, or settled, policy might be achieved -- if not for all, then at least for perhaps some of these aspects, as I call them... So here's what I've seemed to notice...

Chores I think matter right now
- Categories: finding out which ones there should be
- Categories: sorting them in main and sub categories when it makes sense
- Getting the project of listing Outstanding articles started a little bit
-
Looking more into the project of distributing better the "About" text across the Main Page and the About page (now, March 2008, the same text appears both places, which I agree is maybe not the best way)
-
Looking into whether the Copyright message in the About text can be deleted (I believe that it makes sense to not have the Copyright message here at the same time as the Creative Commons licence, and the former probably prohibits "derivative works", which is to say editing articles, or that's what I picture right now, whereas the latter is designed perhaps precisely to fit wikis, or if it wasn't designed for wikis, it still fits very much with how a wiki is supposed to function, at least in the case of, say, Wikipedia and this place, tinWiki)
-
Getting an image on the Main Page could possibly be a very fine addition
Thoughts and ideas
In this section I may write some thoughts and ideas as I come up with them....
test
This is perhaps something I've thought of before: I believe the MediaWiki software is free, so maybe I should try and install it on my own computer, to get a look 'behind the scenes' or what one says, like, for example, taking an actual look at the LocalSettings.php file..... --19:25, 2 May 2008 (CDT)
Just now I mistakenly deleted a page. When I restored it (first by 'checking' the newest version and then clicking "Restore", then again by simply clicking "Restore" without first having checked off any version in the history list), I noticed something that just was a bit surprising or something in the version history, which is that it appeared as a rollback, what was really the (mistaken) deletion. Not sure I understand that, or maybe I didn't look close enough (perhaps I just need a cup of coffee, or three or four....) --07:02, 7 May 2008 (CDT)
Fun stuff: "Userboxes". Perhaps some people would like to have what is called Userboxes on their user page. Some links: http://www.google.com/search?q=userbox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Userboxes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Userbox http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-wikiHow-Userbox-UIB --07:03, 12 May 2008 (CDT)
Practical stuff: A template to put in discussions, explaining briefly how to use them. Such template message banners may be what Wikipedia calls Infoboxes, but I haven't totally understood what they mean by that term. --07:10, 12 May 2008 (CDT)
I tried linking to an audio file from my discussion here (mp3 file). It seemed to not work. Then I went through tinyurl, which means the link didn't point directly to the mp3. That seemed to work. Then it seemed to not work. Then it seemed to work again... So, I'm not sure how it is with linking to audio or mp3 files. I also created this normal web page if it doesn't work linking directly or indirectly to the mp3. --20:28, 26 May 2008 (CDT)
Plural and singular form: One thing I'm curious about is the topic of whether to use plural or singular form in article titles. I've been thinking for a while to read what is said in Wikipedia on this type of matter -- maybe I saw something about it there a while back that seemed interesting, but I'm not quite no sure what it said. This topic is of course one among many style/policy/guideline issues that may not be among the most important, but I still think it's kind of interesting. --17:33, 31 July 2008 (CDT)
Stuff I did that's particularly cool... :)
A 'box' found at least in Talk:Current events, perhaps elsewhere, too, but I amn't sure..

My screen resolution and browser
I currently use the SeaMonkey Safari 3.1 for Windows browser (that's not to say I would recommend this browser, I don't, I've had some problems with it...it deleted bookmarks and some pages don't show correctly.....). I also tend to rely on the Firefox browser.
My screen resolution is 1024x768 (it was for a time 800x600....)

Articles I consider nominating for Outstanding award
Here I will list articles to get started somewhere finding out what articles I want to nominate for the Outstanding category and banner. 19:17, 30 March 2008 (CDT)

My focuses
tinWiki editing which right now interests me
- Categorization: Articles that seem wrongly categorized -- for example a biographical article categorized as "Cults" (a person is obviously not a cult) -- can be helped by the creation of a separate article about whatever aspect caused it to be categorized in the category where the current article does not belong. Something like that. :-) (That's the best explanation I can think of right now.)
- Pulling more types of topics into tinWiki, of course as long as such articles are warranted with respect to tinWiki's area of focus. Lately I have made pages about fiction films, and also a page about a song. I also plan to create pages about websites.
- I'm also starting to create a couple of new categories, seemingly in relation to the project of putting in new types of information in tinWiki. The original categories are adopted from ATS, but it feels I'm starting to discern some of the autonomous needs tinWiki has for categories. Some new categories I've made quite recently now are Actors, Radio hosts, Musicians, Films, Books, Music recordings, and perhaps some more as well (can't remember any right now, though).
- Other focuses of mine are the Current events page and the Community portal page.
- I also am starting to become interested in the possibility of tweaking minor tinWiki details using the Interface messages/System messages. I have for example managed to add an option to request an article (in addition to the existing option to create article) when a search done does not find an existing page title. I also managed to change the sidebar so that the Community portal link now goes to an internal page.
- I'm always doing little style edits when I come across something obvious or something that differs from something explicit I've seen once when looking at the style guide.

Thoughts
I just signed up to TinWiki. This is my first post logged in. I made a few stubs and short articles as anonymous the recent two weeks or thereabout.
I think tinWiki is a really good website on the Internet. Alternative information specifically not owing to any authority or agenda is valuable, and my impression is tinWiki strives to offer just that type of information. I guess you could say I am a bit "paranoid" in the sense that I think people will be people and that they will always try and serve themselves, I think information should always be suspected to be influenced by the person or persons who deliver the information. Basically I don't trust people to be anything less than serving themselves as best they know, which means they are not necessarily telling the truth "objectively". People are not "angels" and intellectually honest or what you would call it in that type of way, even if this type of notion of what a human person is, is maybe what they try and portray "on TV".
Then again, this is not to say I think all people are bad, so it's said.
In my impression, there are basically two types of people. Good guys are not always acting "perfect", and the bad guys aren't always doing bad acts -- but my view is that ultimately there is in fact such a thing as a bad person. But, as I am thankful for, there are great, beautiful and honorable human beings as well.

Image files
I have started to try out adding images to tinWiki pages. The files kept at my account with the image host can be seen here.

Mystery of the mysterious non-existent section
Darn it, ...some vague impression I can't remember of there being some section here that isn't here (yes, in this place ... but not this one that I'm writing now, obviously) and that it seems in the History page hasn't been here either? What is this?... Some sort of deja-vu, precognition, some sort of overspill from a parallel dimension, was it something I dreamt or thought to create? Maybe I'll be seeing man sized bunnies in my nightmares pretty soon. I'm trying to be joking, but really I am bugged by some sort of impression there used to be a section under the Image files section, that I made.
Hate it when that happens... *swearwords*!1111!!11 Optimist 13:24, 2 September 2007 (CDT)
