Vaccine

From TinWiki.org

A vaccine is material introduced into a person's body to cause immunity to a disease. The vaccine contains weakened contagious material which is supposed to let the body's immune system develop resistance to the disease without actually catching the disease. The term is from a test which was done by a E. Jenner, he injected some people with cowpox which can be overcome by the body with ease, but his results where that after exposure to cowpox the body became immune to cowpox and smallpox; this idea of giving people cowpox to stop smallpox acured to him when he noticed that cow milkmaids seemed to be the only people who never got smallpox.
